J GIBSON, having been frequently warned as to his ill
treatment of the little children at school, was on the morning of Nov 25 cained
7 strokes by Mr GREEN for knocking Ben WADE down.

and the front and back yards gravelled.

Bottom absent owing to father having no work and consequently no money to pay

Owing to a heavy fall of snow in the night the greater
number of children were unable to get to school consequently the registers were
not marked and the children dismissed.
As some of the parents have got considerably behind
with their fees, it has been decided by the managers that henceforth if the
children do not bring them regularly they will be sent home.
Charles MIDDLETON sent home for insubordination to
school rules and violently assaulting the mistress.

during the Sunday evening service and spoiled by boring holes through them.

in consequence of an outbreak of diphtheria.
The school was reopened this day after having been
thoroughly disinfected.
A Grant of £14 has been paid by the Governing Body of
the Norwich Diocesan Association for the purpose of “maintaining increased

Opened school at a quarter to 1 this afternoon and

Empire Day was celebrated today instead of 24th
as it fell on Ascension Day. After
afternoon school the scholars were led in procession by the Rector, Miss BARTLE
and teachers through the rectory grounds, carrying flags to the village green
where the National Anthem was sung and an address was given, the procession was
led back to the school, the scholars greatly having enjoyed themselves,
dismissed.

was read on the village green at noon today and a half holiday was given in
honour of same.
3 Boys Walter BUCKENHAM, Walter THOMPSON & Ernest
THOMPSON were reported today for smoking on the school premises during the
dinner hour.
Medical Inspection took place this afternoon.
HMI: Desk accommodation is insufficient in the infants room. On the
day of inspection 31 children were crowded into 5 desks, each of which was only
about 6 ft long. The infants can recite
portions of their one reading book, and the children in Std
I are reading a history book which is much too hard for them.
2 Boys Walter BUCKENHAM & Frank FENN were thrashed
this morning for impudence.
By permission of Managers and Education Authority a
short session is being worked today and tomorrow to allow children to gather
blackberries for Food Ministry.
Attendance has been very poor during the last two
weeks, many children suffering from Influenza.
There were no fires in school today owing to coal
shortage.
School Dentist called and examined children.
Report of Diocesan Inspection: For a country school in
a purely agricultural district I was agreeably surprised at the intelligence of
the children, more particularly the babies and infants with whom I was
delighted.
