The Friends are people who value and care about the historic county of Norfolk and want to help to retain its unique character.  The rediscovery in 1979 of 15th century Dragon Hall and its rescue from the threat of demolition prompted the vision of preserving it as a Heritage Centre for the city and county.  The Norfolk & Norwich Heritage Trust was formed to work towards this goal.

The Friends support this work by fund-raising and publicity.  We do this by arranging a programme of talks, visits and tours, and by running a stand at various events within the county (see diary of events below).

With the completion of the restoration of Dragon Hall as a Heritage Centre, the Friends can be proud of the part we have played in establishing Dragon Hall as one of the major tourist attractions in Norwich.  As from the end of 2007, the Friends of Norfolk & Norwich Heritage will cease to exist as an organisation.  Our functions will be taken over by the Norfolk & Norwich Heritage Trust (see the Dragon Hall home page below).

This, the Friends’ web-site, will continue until the end of 2008 and will publish a summary of the final accounts of the Friends, following the settlement of all outstanding transactions.  This balance will be donated to the Trust, to be used for the benefit of Dragon Hall, specifically to produce an information booklet for sale to the public.
